"I discovered the SLM site during a google search. The search was a desperate last attempt to find some relief from the constant nagging backpain that I have been suffering for the past 2.5 years. Chiro's were good but the pain relief did not last, massage helped but did not last, Physio only made it worse, exercise made it unbearable, the only thing I could do was swim, even then I had to push through the first 15 or so laps until the pain started to ease. I decided to try the only therapist SLM had listed in SA, Ken Cheel, in
Magill. I have been for a 1 hr massage the last 2 saturdays. What an
amazing difference. Ken is about a 1 hour drive from my home, but worth
it. I can't believe that after all I have been through the relief I
have gained is seemingly so simple. I have had the best two days in the
last 2.5 years. I suffered back pain for approximately 12 months, getting out of bed was bad. Standing/sitting for long periods became very painful. Then in January 2007, I blew the disc at L5/S1. This created intense pain in my lower right leg and foot, so bad in the end that I was unable to put my foot to the floor. I was operated on 26.1.07, a microdisectomy. Things improved significantly. I spent about 8 weeks at home after the op, then slowly started back at work, getting up to 3 days per week, before things started going downhill again. The pain in my leg began increasing again (it had never completely gone) until I was confined to my home again mostly lying down or reclining in a chair on massive amounts of pain killers. Life sucked. On 26.02.08 in desperation I had a neurostimulator inserted to help mask the pain in my leg. It definitely help but only up to a point, however I did try to return to work again. Getting up to about 12 hours per week, but I could stand no more and my life was going to work and recovering and that was all I could manage. Surgeon and GP both started to talk about me having to give up work permanently as I was never going to recover from the position I found myself in. I have been off work since 08.08.08. Since discovering SLM, I have hope again, this technique and Ken are wonderful. If I am so much better after only 2 treatments I have great hope that I may get back to work and have a full life again. I still have moderate pain in my lower leg, but the use of pain killers has reduced significantly. And my outlook has improved. Thank you! Thank you!"
